2017 Montana Dragon Boat Festival – CANCELLED

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has categorized the air quality in Flathead Valley as very unhealthy, a standard that calls for rescheduling or relocating outdoor sporting events. Due to this, the decision was made to cancel the Montana Dragon Boat Festival this year. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact Vonnie Day via email or phone (460) 758-2809.

Join the fun at Montana’s 6th annual Dragon Boat Festival as teams from Montana, across the U.S. and Canada compete.   Watch teams consisting of 20 paddlers, a steerer and a drummer race to the finish in 46-foot-long Hong Kong-style boats. See it here.

New this year is the Rocky Mountain Championship (RMC), an race division showcasing top dragon boat teams competing for the RMC medal.

Enjoy live music, children’s activities and a Made-in-Montana vendor fair.  Food and beverage vendors will be onsite.

Don’t miss this free event on Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. The festival is expected to attract 3,000 spectators and 2,000 racers, drawing visitors from the Pacific Northwest and Canada, where the sport of Dragon Boat Racing has become increasingly popular.
