There are many other ways to have fun on a snowy winter day in Kalispell:
Woodland Park: Kalispell’s historic 40-acre park is a beautiful setting in winter. Stroll on the walking paths or take a spin at the lagoon or Woodland Ice Center, an ideal place for ice skaters of any ability to practice and perform. If hockey is your sport, practice your skills at stick and puck or as a drop-in at adult or women’s hockey. Rentals available at hockey’s home Woodland Park Ice Center and at Wheatons in downtown Kalispell.
Lawrence Park: Snowshoes require no prior experience and offer winter adventure for the youngest to the oldest. Try a short trek in the park or if you’re more adventurous, explore the trail along the Stillwater River. Rentals available at Sportsman Ski Haus.
Bundle up and head for the hills: Sled riding is a great way to spend a winter day no matter your age. Herron Park near Kalispell has great sled-ready terrain with thrills for all. Build a campfire and warm up with some roasted marshmallows and tall tales.
Cross-country ski: Groomed trails can be found in every direction. The Buffalo Hill Golf Course is a good place for kids to try their ski legs. For a little more adventure, head for Blacktail Mountain Nordic Trails or the Bigfork Community Nordic Trails. Sportsman Ski Haus rents equipment.
Wrap up your day in the snow with a steamy cup of hot chocolate at Norms News, an old-fashioned soda fountain and candy store.
