Northwest Montana is the perfect backdrop for a sled ride, whether that be on a guided snowmobile tour or, for those experienced sledders, a self-guided tour. Snowmobiling is a popular sport for locals and visitors with more than 200 miles of groomed trails and miles of Forest Service roads to explore including five major areas that provide great hill climbing, powder play areas, wildlife viewing and spectacular panoramas. The season typically begins the first part of December and can last until mid-April, depending on yearly snow fluctuations.

Swan Mountain Snowmobiling has the permit from the USFS to provide guided tours and snowmobile rentals on the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Ranger District. This includes the famed Canyon Creek snowmobile area as well as Desert Mountain. Additionally they provide tours into the Swan River Ranger District and Crane Mountain area. Packages include the “Quickie” consisting of a two-hour ride or Sunrise and Sunset snowmobile tours. Or experience a Cook While You Ride upgrade to enjoy a hot meal out on the trail.
